Rebooking and cancellation
If you need to change or cancel your travel plans because of the COVID-19, you have multiple options. It’s also possible that the airline has to cancel your trip. We’ve gathered the most asked questions and answered them for you.
Changing your flight
If you want to postpone your flight and booked your ticket via KLM, you can do this via My Trip. There are several rebook possibilities, depending on if your flight was cancelled by KLM or Air France. We recommend you to first review the rebook policies on this page to know your options.
Rebook policies
The policy that applies to your trip depends on your scheduled departure date. Not sure what your departure date was? Check the confirmation e-mail you received after booking your flight.
If your flight has not been cancelled by the airline, you can only change your booking before the scheduled departure of your flight.
Note that separate policies are in place for:
Tickets purchased on or before 28 February 2022 with a departure after 1 July 2022

Change your travel dates
- You may change your travel dates without having to pay the change fee, as described in your ticket conditions. However, a fare difference might still apply.
Change your destination
- You may use the full value of your original tickets for new tickets on KLM, Air France, Delta Air Lines, and Virgin Atlantic.
- You will not have to pay the change fee. However, a fare difference might still apply.
How to rebook
- you have a KLM or Air France ticket,
- your journey has not started yet,
- you are not travelling with a baby (0-1 years),
- you did not request a special service (e.g. ordered a special meal, are travelling as an unaccompanied minor, have requested transportation of a wheelchair or pet).
2. Request a refund
If you choose to postpone your trip, check your ticket conditions to see if you’re entitled to a refund. You can find these conditions in the confirmation e-mail you received after booking your flight.
3. Request a non-refundable travel voucher
If you choose to postpone your trip, we will provide you with a non-refundable travel voucher.
- Your travel voucher is valid for 1 year after the date of issue.
- You can use your voucher within the validity period to book a flight that takes place after the expiry date of the voucher.
- If the value of your voucher is higher than the price of your new booking, you'll receive another voucher for the remaining balance.
- If the value of your voucher is lower than the price of your new booking, you will need to pay the fare difference.
- Your travel voucher is non-refundable and non-transferable.
How to request a non-refundable travel voucher
Request a refund in the form of a travel voucher online. - We will process your request and send your travel voucher via e-mail within a couple of days.
- Please note that your entire booking will be cancelled once we’ve issued your travel voucher.
How to use a travel voucher
You can use an unlimited number of vouchers as a payment method during online checkout to purchase a new ticket and/or extra options.
Bookings via a travel agency
Unfortunately, you cannot use our online refund system if you booked via a travel agent. We advise contacting your travel agent first, as they have all needed information to arrange your refund. My test result comes in too late. What are my options?
If your negative COVID-19 PCR test result or negative rapid test result comes in too late, we’re offering the following rebook possibility.
Rebook your flight
- You can rebook your flight from 48 hours before your original scheduled departure time up until your original scheduled departure time.
- You may change your flight as described in your ticket conditions. However, a fare difference and change fee may apply.
- Your purchased extra options are transferable to another date. The same goes for Flying Blue reward tickets.

My flight has been cancelled. What are my options?
We’re sorry to hear your flight has been cancelled. If you booked via KLM, you can rebook your flight via My Trip or request a cash refund.

If my flight is delayed or cancelled, will I be notified?
Yes, but because of the high volumes, it could happen that you receive push messages with a delay. This is why we advise you to keep an eye on the flight status tracker.
I can’t change my booking online. What to do?
In most cases, you can change your flight via My Trip if you booked via KLM.
Problems?
Encountering problems when using My Trip? Please follow these steps:
1. Check if you’re not checked in
If you’re already checked in for your flight, you need to check out again before you can change your flight. You can undo your check-in via the check-in page.
2. Check if your ticket number starts with 074
Your ticket number starts with a different number if you booked via a different airline.
Unfortunately, we cannot change these bookings, so we advise you to contact the concerning airline or your travel agent.
3. Contact us
If you still can’t change your booking yourself, contact the KLM Customer Contact Centre. Please note that we are doing what we can to help you as quickly as possible.
